Figure AI

Figure AI is a San Jose-based AI robotics company founded in 2022. It develops general-purpose humanoid robots and intelligence systems for work and home environments. Figure 01 was its first generation, while Figure 02 was the second-generation platform refined for real-world work.

Figure and customer-side BMW materials document Figure 02 testing and later deployment in automotive production. Figure has since moved to Figure 03 and announced the start of Figure 02's retirement in 2025, so this batch records Figure 01 and Figure 02 as legacy products rather than current ones.

Figure combines in-house humanoid hardware with the Helix vision-language-action system, making it a useful case for tracking how VLA models extend into whole-body movement and bimanual manipulation. The BMW work provides stronger real-environment evidence than a laboratory demo alone.

Current evidence remains concentrated in defined tasks and managed deployments, so it does not establish broad general-purpose performance. Future updates should track Figure 03, Helix generalization, and external validation of reliability and safety.
